Local organizations join forces to promote student awareness

Give Back Jamaica (GBJ) and Blakkwuman22 Music will collaborate at Whitfield Primary School on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, to inspire and uplift young students by facilitating interactions with reggae and dancehall artists who can impart their experiences, wisdom, and positive messages.

In 2025, the team will visit schools in Kingston, St. Catherine, Clarendon, and Manchester as part of the GBJ Artist Voice-Up Program. During their visits, they will read, recite, and encourage students to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of family values, diversity, and global community needs through the educational and entertaining aspects of reading.

Their first stop at Whitfield Primary School will honor the late principal Karen Powell who collapsed and died February 21, 2025. They will also collaborate with Winsome Wishes for KIDS (WWKIDS), an advocate of Graphogame and whose mission is to promote equity in classrooms for all children regardless of learning abilities.

The team will engage in constructive discussions with students, teachers, and local volunteers on topics including early childhood experiences and cultural differences and similarities that promote positive behaviors. The focus will be on addressing common misconceptions about reggae and dancehall artists, character development, leadership, community engagement, the importance of education, and expressing gratitude.

“This collaboration benefits all organizations involved,” stated Hopeton Brown, GBJ president. “Our efforts are crucial. We must prepare our children for the future. We will commit our time and effort to provide mentoring for our youth. It is important to guide them early to prevent future difficulties. Our goal is to ensure that no child is left behind, and that is why we are here.”

Blakkwuman22 Music will provide musicians who have a deep passion for Jamaica and a commitment to promoting peace and community building. WWKIDS will invite Jamaican authors to read to the children and engage them in interactive sessions aimed at encouraging self-expression, confidence, and memory retention. Additionally, GBJ, through its Kickers Club program, will donate up to 50 pairs of school shoes to students in need.

Blakkwuman22 Music presents the “Tabula Rasa Riddim”

Blakkwuman22 Music, in association with Minoda Beats, presents “Tabula Rasa Riddim,” a six-track dancehall compilation produced by Karamanti. Released at the end of February, 2025, the project features new music by Jamaican emerging artists George P, Yahdeen Essence, Falco DiGeneral, and of course Karamanti, the CEO and owner of Blakkwuman22 Music, as well as Zimbabwean veteran performer Pops Jabu.

The beat for the “Tabula Rasa Riddim” was built by Mindo Beats with additional instruments added by Lamar Thompson. All songs on this album were mixed and mastered by Audio Traxx Production, which is based in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, and it is being distributed exclusively by Blakkwuman22 Music.

Blakkwuman22 Music has a reputation for only releasing clean, conscious music, and this new compilation further cements that. Both Karamanti and Yahdeen Essence, who are women of faith, shared songs that are inspired by Bible verses (Genesis 4:7 and Praise). On his track (Values), Falco DiGeneral highlights the lack of morals in today’s youths, while George P delivered a passionate song to his love interest (Uncondition Love). As she often does on her compilations, Karamanti records two songs. Her second song on the “Tabula Rasa Riddim” is a collaboration done with Pops Jabu called Jama ZimZim. This is a tune that celebrates Black power, love, and unity.

The “Tabula Rasa Riddim” is available on all major music platforms, including Bandcamp and SoundCloud, and the official video for Karamanti’s “Genesis 4:7” can be viewed on her YouTube channel.

Visuals for “Genesis 4:7” were also shared with the audio. It can be viewed on Karamanti’s YouTube channel.

This song is featured on the “Blood Sacrifice Riddim,” which was produced by recording artist Karamanti for her imprint Blakkwuman22 Music. The compilation also features music by Turbulence, Yahdeen Essence, Higher Trod, and Karamanti herself.

The beat for the “Blood Sacrifice Riddim” was composed by Arioso Legato. That said, Lamar Thompson added the electric piano, mute guitar strum, and the lead guitar. All songs were mixed and mastered by AudioTraxx Productions, and it is being distributed by Blakkwuman22 Music.
